My practical guide
I’m Konstantin Kartashevsky, I was born in 1973. I studied at the Crimean Art School and graduated from the Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design (Faculty of Monumental Art) in 2000.
Among my works, there are more than 40 objects of art for public spaces, I also participated in exhibitions.
Personal exhibition “Hyper Volumes” at the Saint Petersburg Museum of Modern Art (XX-XXIV), Saint Petersburg, 2020
Personal exhibition “Traveling by Turtles to the Center of the Earth” at the Saint Petersburg Museum of Urban Sculpture, 2023
I experiment with various techniques by using new combinations of materials (metals, acrylic resins, decorative coatings). I think, a new combination of modern and traditional materials creates a unique energy, i.e. a spark that gives new life. This slow and fascinating process of transformation of matter helps to take a different look at familiar things and get closer to a deeper understanding of the world. The reflections on the objects around us, their nature, the contrast between the world of things and the world of ideas are the base of my art.
The Platonic idealists’ statement that an idea takes priority over matter became a practical guide for me.
